Intelectra vs Scite.
Intelectra grounds every claim in a verbatim quote from the source paper. Scite classifies citation statements.
Feature by feature.
Where a value is uncertain or not surfaced on Scite's public pages, we leave the cell as “—” rather than guess. Numbered cells link to the public sources in the footnotes.

Common questions.
Is Scite a substitute for Intelectra?
Scite is a citation-context layer over published literature: it tells you which sentences cite a paper supportingly, contrastingly, or just in passing. Intelectra is a research workspace: retrieval, verbatim-quote grounding, cross-validation, bibliography synthesis. The two are often complementary rather than substitutes.
How is Smart Citations different from Intelectra's claim grounding?
Scite classifies each citing sentence in the literature as supporting, contrasting, or mentioning, extracted at scale across 1.6B+ statements. Intelectra goes the opposite direction: given a claim you are writing, it finds the verbatim quote in the source paper that supports or refutes it, and rejects any quote that does not match the page-anchored PDF region.
Can I run Scite on my own infrastructure?
Scite's deployment model is cloud SaaS; we did not find a documented self-hosted option on the public site. Intelectra's Closed mode runs every component on your infrastructure and is air-gappable for regulated workflows.
How does pricing compare?
Scite's Individual plan is $12 per month, with a 7-day trial. Intelectra's tier numbers finalise at public launch; the tier shape (Researcher, Lab, Enterprise) is locked and early users receive a permanent discount.
Does Scite export to BibTeX and RIS like Intelectra?
Scite integrates with Zotero (your library syncs and Smart Citations appear on each reference) and offers bulk export via the API. Intelectra's Bibliography Generator emits Vancouver, APA, BibTeX, and RIS directly, deduplicated by DOI then PMID.
Which tool is better for screening for retracted citations?
Scite's Reference Check is purpose-built for this: paste a manuscript and the tool flags retracted, contradicted, or mentioning citations in the bibliography. Intelectra's Cross-Validator decomposes the claim itself across the corpus and emits per-study verdicts (direct / partial / indirect / contradictory). They answer different questions.
